Tomatoes are two inches high

The tomato seeds I planted January 19, 2010 are now 2 inches high! Now they will start growing like crazy. All of this sun in Calgary is making them very happy. Taking tomato seedlings to my doctor tomorrow. I have too many seedlings for as much room as I have. The seed were 100% germination rate, so last falls collection went very well. I hope you are finding good results with yours. The seedlings in the back are Basil; might as well use the space in the big pots while I can.
Happy Tomatoes!

First Seedling

First Tomato Seedling was up this morning! Planted directly in Large Pot, January 19, 2010. For those still waiting for them to put up their little heads, be patient; can take up to 3 weeks. If anyone still wants some Heirloom Stupice Tomato seeds, I still have some seeds left that I gathered last year.

Potting tips and planting now.

Planting Tomato Seeds. Now is the time to plant. Nice thing to do with winter all around us. Anyone else out there want some?

Potting Tip. If you have pots that are frozen with soil outside. Pour three or four kettles of boiling water on the soil, and let them drain. Then bring them in. They will be warmed and sterilized at the same time! Ready to plant your seeds.

the tomato project continues

Hello all,
I have been out of the loop for the last six months. but the tomato project continues. I am sending out fresh seeds to you all and those who are not blogging. My dentist, doctor and hairdresser are participating so far. Hopefully I will keep better records of the tomato's progress with pictures etc. Please send me anything. Recipes are welcome. A super easy pasta sauce is many slices of fresh garlic and halved tomatoes in several tablespoons of sizzling olive oil. Stir, add your pasta and you are done.

gravel solution

If you r like me and live in the great white north and all the gravel is buried beneath 10 feet of snow. The answer is just as simple as heading to your nearest hardware store and buying lava rock for the barbecue it is a cheep easy solution.
